RHP redesigns Windsor Great Park website
Fri 17th Aug
Red Hot Penny are extremely proud and humbled to announce that they have redesigned and built the new responsive website for Windsor Great Park on behalf of The Crown Estate.
With a Royal history spanning over 1,000 years, Windsor Great Park covers 4,800 acres of award-winning gardens, ancient woodland and forest trails. It is used today as a destination for picnics, walking, cycling and horse riding and welcomes over 5 million visitors a year.
The new website was built by Red Hot Penny to support the new Windsor Great Park branding and positioning, extending this across the digital landscape. As the park is so widely used by tourists and locals alike, Red Hot Penny aimed to strike the balance of Royal historical story-telling with digital features and functionality to support people on any device, either before their visit or while in the park itself.
The site needed to educate, inform and encourage the users to visit the various locations throughout the year. Interactive maps and historical timelines sit alongside a wealth of park information and the many areas of natural beauty, flora, fauna, wildlife and businesses.
Working closely with design agency Shine Creative, who invited us to work on the project initially; RHP provided creative direction, user experience workshops, interactive design and consultancy to help the marketing team to reposition the new Windsor Great Park brand’s online presence. The site has been built in a fully responsive design with bespoke third party integrations and an interactive map.
David Mash, Red Hot Penny’s Operational Director, had this to say on the high profile project:
It was imperative that the new site empowered The Crown Estate to quickly and elegantly convey the substantial features and services of the park throughout the changing seasons of the year. RHP worked closely with the client to understand this rich and diverse content, its interplay with the seasons and internal content origination.
